Specimen NO. 917 | Saddleback Caterpillar
[acharia stimulea]
The caterpillar is primarily green with brown at either end and a prominent white-ringed brown dot in the center which resembles a saddle. Contact with their bristly hairs causes a painful, swollen rash and sometimes nausea.
SPECIAL THANKS
to the Museum of York County
for their generous permission to paint right there in their Naturalist Center—so I could experience these beautiful creations up close and personal.
